Exercise Physiology and Metabolism

Our Exercise Physiology Laboratory offers numerous resources and training facilities for both our students and staff.

Research in Exercise Physiology within the Department of Exercise Sciences encompasses the areas listed below.

On-campus facilities include the Exercise Nutrition and Metabolism Laboratory, the Exercise and Muscle Physiology Laboratory and a fully equipped exercise training facility within The University of Auckland Clinics.

Current collaborations are established with researchers in the School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences and The Liggins Institute within the University and externally with Crop & Food Research and AgResearch.

Associate Professor Heather Smith and Dr Nicholas Gant are the academic staff in Exercise Physiology within the department.
