Information for our current and future students

Our new facilities at the Newmarket campus are a fantastic opportunity for our current and future students for many reasons, including:

New state-of-the-art facilities and labs that are purpose-built for Exercise Sciences

These will allow us to teach both our undergraduate and postgraduate students in environments tailor-made for the best delivery of our Exercise Sciences courses.

Co-located facilities - Clinics, research facilities and teaching labs will all be located on one site

Bringing together the Exercise Sciences facilities at the Newmarket campus will allow better integration of teaching with our research facilities. It will allow easier access for our students to access teaching equipment, workshops, teaching labs and postgraduate rooms, whilst also enabling better support from technicians.

More central location - close to the City and Grafton campuses and all of the opportunities of the CBD

The Newmarket campus is in a much more central location than the Tāmaki campus and offers a host of advantages for our students. You will benefit from increased ease of access and the close proximity to the City and Grafton campuses and other University facilities. This will be particularly helpful to our students who are completing double majors.

The Newmarket location also brings fantastic health and wellbeing opportunities for all of our students due to its close proximity to the nearby shopping precinct, which houses cafes, shops and leisure facilities. We will also be in close proximity to Auckland Domain and Auckland Museum; perfect for summer strolls and taking a break.

Fantastic public transport links

The new site is only 500 metres from the train station and in close proximity to both Newmarket and Grafton train stations. It is also only 200 metres from the closest bus stops. We are also fortunate to have five car parking buildings within a 200 metre radius.

Close links to allied health professionals

Moving to Newmarket will bring Exercise Sciences into closer proximity with some of the allied health profesionals that we have established relationships with, including Auckland City Hospital and Nugent Street Clinic. This proximity provides new collaborative possibilities for our postgraduate students.

The move to Newmarket will take place midway through Semester One 2018 and will not cause any disruption for our current and future students.

Further information will be directly communicated to students when dates have been confirmed.
